In Remembrance of Nelson Mandela
In Remembrance of Nelson Mandela
I have been fortunate in my lifetime to meet outstanding individuals who not only impacted me personally with their greatness but who changed the world at-large with the relinquishing of self for the greater good. One of those exceptional individuals was Mr. Nelson Mandela. His aura shone brightly and arrested you in its brilliance, if you had the opportunity to orbit his love and grace. Ironically, it’s easy to attach affectionate labels, such as hero and Madiba. But as easy as it is to convey our gratitude with those sterling terms of endearment, we must never forget the courage, strength, and wisdom Mr. Mandela possessed during turbulent times, which would have buckled many of us. Yet, because he was a moral compass of great latitude and persevered to navigate humanity’s current to higher spiritual ground, our own inner greatness gleams the more clearly. And for that, I thank him.

Wings of Forgiveness
I went to S.A. broken and came back healed by a few short words from Madiba. This song is about THAT conversation with Madiba. Wings of Forgiveness
In Mandela's Own Words
"No one is born hating another person because of the colour of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite." more

Harry Belafonte Was Right About Jay-Z
by Jessica Ann Mitchell/OurLegaci.com
With the current controversy surrounding high-end retail store Barneys and racial profiling allegations, one thing stands evident. Harry Belafonte was right about Jay-Z. In the midst of this controversy, fans have called on Jay-Z to end his partnership with Barneys, in which his new holiday fashion line is going to be sold. Jay-Z’s response has been a calculated public relations effort in which he negates any real responsibility to his default, “I’m doing it for charity” statement. Currently, Jay-Z is continuing his partnership with Barneys with his collection set to launch next week. more

Zindzi Mandela Reflects on ‘Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom’
By RICK LYMAN
Published: November 27, 2013
Zindzi Mandela’s earliest memory is sitting outside a Pretoria, South Africa, police station in 1962 while her mother, Winnie, delivered a favorite dish to her father, Nelson Mandela, being held inside.
“I was 18 months old, but I can really remember that moment, sitting in the car, waiting for my mother to return. I must have sensed somehow that there had been some sort of trauma, and I was very scared. It was taking her so long.” more

Michael Jackson Quotes
“If you enter this world knowing you are loved and you leave this world knowing the same, then everything that happens in between can be dealt with.”
“Lies run sprints, but the truth runs marathons.”
... “We have to heal our wounded world. The chaos, despair, and senseless destruction we see today are a result of the alienation that people feel from each other and their environment.”
“To live is to be musical, starting with the blood dancing in your veins. Everything living has a rhythm. Do you feel your music?”
“Consciousness expresses itself through creation. This world we live in is the dance of the creator. Dancers come and go in the twinkling of an eye but the dance lives on. On many an occasion when I am dancing, I have felt touched by something sacred. In those moments, I felt my spirit soar and become one with everything that exists.
I become the stars and the moon. I become the lover and the beloved. I become thevictor and the vanquished. I become the master and the slave. I become the singer and the song. I become the knower and the known. I keep on dancing then it is the eternal dance or creation. The creator and creation merge into one wholeness of joy. I keep on dancing...and dancing...and dancing. Until there is only...the dance
“Sometimes the heart is so heavy that we turn away from it and forget that its throbbing is the wisest message of life, a wordless message that says, "Live, be, move, rejoice -- you are alive!" Without the heart's wise rhythm, we could not exist.”
“When I step out on stage in front of thousands of people, I don't feel that I'm being brave. It can take much more courage to express true feelings to one person. [...] In spite of the risks, the courage to be honest and intimate opens the way to self-discovery. It offers what we all want, the promise of love. ”
“To give someone a piece of your heart, is worth more than all the wealth in the world.”
“But for me the sweetest contact with God has no form. I close my eyes, look within, and enter a deep soft silence. The infinity of God's creation embraces me.”
“I'm going to search for my star until I find it. It's hidden in the drawer of innocence, wrapped in a scarf of wonder.”
“We look high and low for God, but somehow He's not there. So we blame Him and tell ourselves that He must have forgotten us. Or else we decide that He left us long ago, if He was ever around."
"How strange," the little fish said, "to miss what is everywhere."
"Very strange," the old whale agreed. "Doesn't it remind you of fish who say they're thirsty?”

Mississippi officially ratifies amendment abolishing slavery — finally
It's already embarrassing that Mississippi didn't ratify the 13th Amendment (the one that, you know, abolishes slavery) until 1995. It's even more embarrassing that the Magnolia State didn't officially ratify the amendment until now, almost 150 years after Congress voted for it. Back in '95 the state never properly notified the U.S. Archivist about the ratification, so it was never official. This apparent clerical blunder wasn't spotted until Dr. Ranjan Batra, an associate professor at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, saw "Lincoln" and wondered what happened when the states voted on ratification. The right paperwork was filed and on February 7, 2013 Mississippi officially ratified the 13th Amendment. "It was long overdue," admitted Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann. No kidding.
